Project Overview

HMI Guitars is a manufacturer of stringed instruments, including electric guitars, ukuleles, violins, and specialty designs. The company works with business partners on OEM, ODM, and white-label manufacturing, while also showcasing its product range to prospective buyers.
The website redesign brought these two sides of the business together. It needed to communicate HMI’s manufacturing expertise and company story, while giving visitors a straightforward way to browse products and send enquiries. The result was designed to work as both a corporate introduction and an online product catalog.

The challenge

HMI’s website had to speak to visitors with different needs and levels of familiarity with the company.
A potential OEM or ODM partner might want to understand HMI’s production capabilities, facility, processes, and experience before starting a business conversation. A visitor interested in a particular instrument might instead want to find the relevant product page, review its specifications, and ask a question about it.
These journeys called for more than a single general company overview. The information needed to be organized so that visitors could find the details relevant to them, understand what HMI offers, and identify a clear next step.
The design also needed to express the character of a musical instrument maker. It had to feel creative and connected to music while maintaining the clarity and credibility expected of a manufacturing partner.

Project Goals

The redesign focused on several goals:

The Design Approach

The design approach focused on serving HMI’s two key audiences, business partners exploring its OEM and ODM capabilities, and visitors browsing its instruments. The site organizes company information, manufacturing capabilities, and product pages into clear sections, helping each audience find relevant details and a suitable next step. Dedicated product pages present specifications and options, while the infrastructure page uses facility details and photography to show how HMI works.
The visual direction takes cues from musical instruments, using a teal and salmon palette, guitar-inspired UI details, and imagery that reflects the craft behind the products. Spacious layouts give the content room to breathe and keep detailed information easy to scan. Calls to action and product enquiry forms connect exploration to contact, while a dedicated CMS module lets HMI manage its product content after launch.

Conclusion

The HMI Guitars website brings the company’s manufacturing expertise and product range together in one clear digital experience. By combining a distinctive visual direction with focused content, product details, and straightforward enquiry paths, the redesign helps HMI present its capabilities to partners and introduce its instruments to new audiences.
